Handles, Tufts & Details
Reinforced handles are 10 inches long and made with Organic Cotton (97%) and Elastane (3%). Elastane is used only for functional stretch to enhance durability and is within GOTS standards. It is made in two layers for durability and strength (450g & 334g). Tuft rosettes attached to a woven tape made from GOTS-certified organic cotton eliminate the need for glues, as the Luxury Organic Mattress is tufted with steel needles by hand in up to 32 locations, depending on size. Rosettes are made with certified organic wool sourced from the United States. Our closing woven tape is made from GOTS-certified organic cotton (450) sourced from Canada. Recyclable aluminum bull-hook staples are used instead of glue to bind the interior perimeter to latex. Our green embroidery thread used for our logo is even STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified as non-toxic. Handles are intended to help you rotate the mattress only. Do not attempt to transport the mattress by using the handles.
Climate Neutral Certified
As a Climate Neutral Certified company since 2019, we've measured Avocado's annual cradle-to-consumer emissions, offset them by investing in climate change solutions, and started taking real action to reduce our emissions. We also recognize that our offsets and reductions aren't enough. Solving climate change will require systemic solutions. That's why, through our partnerships with Ceres and the American Sustainable Business Network, we also advocate for state and federal policies that support equitable solutions to the climate crisis.
No Flame Retardants
No flame retardants of any kind are used. Our Luxury Organic Mattress meets all safety standards by only using GOTS-certified organic wool and densely packed natural fibers. No other chemical treatments, rayon blends, or fiberglass fiber fire socks are used.
Tested for PFAS
PFAS (Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are a group of man-made chemicals used in various industries worldwide. Known for their persistence in the environment and in the human body, they are often referred to as "forever chemicals." At Avocado, we're committed to ensuring our products are free from harmful levels of PFAS. Our mattresses have been rigorously tested using advanced techniques such as Liquid Chromatographic/Tandem Mass Spectrometer (LC/MS/MS) analysis and Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis for 241 PFAS substances. This testing method is superior to generic organic fluorine screening tests, which can often be inaccurate and fail to detect specific PFAS compounds. 25-Year Limited Warranty
Years 1 - 10: Full coverage, Non-Prorated. Years 11-25: Limited Coverage, Prorated. A great mattress provides comfort and proper support for your back by conforming to your unique body shape. Since people usually sleep in the same area of the mattress every night, the natural and organic comfort layers tend to be compressed in the same areas. In a plush mattress, this may result in a natural body impression, up to 2 inches, which is not to be confused with a sagging or defective mattress.
